1. Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve

The Mayfield–Gutsch Estate, now named Mayfield Park, is a historic cottage, gardens, and nature preserve in west Austin, Texas on a bluff overlooking Lake Austin. Originally built in the 1870s, the cottage was purchased by former Texas Secretary of State Allison Mayfield in 1909. In 1922, the house passed to Mayfield's daughter, Mary Frances, and her husband, University of Texas professor Milton Gutsch. They expanded the home, adding porches on three sides and, with the help of gardener Esteban Arredondo, greatly developed 2 acres (0.81 ha) of the property around their home into a botanical garden surrounded by a rock perimeter wall. When Mary Mayfield Gutsch died in 1971, the home and grounds were left to the City of Austin for use as a park. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1994. Mayfield Park is open to the public and is known for its free-roaming peacocks on the property. The cottage and gardens can be reserved for private events. The grounds are immediately adjacent to Laguna Gloria, home to the Austin Museum of Art.

2. Bullock Texas State History Museum

The Bullock Texas State History Museum (often referred to as the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum or Bullock Museum) is a history museum in Austin, Texas. The museum, located a few blocks north of the Texas State Capitol at 1800 North Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas, is dedicated to interpreting the continually unfolding "Story of Texas" to the broadest possible audience through meaningful educational experiences. The museum is operated by the Texas State Preservation Board, which also operates the Texas State Capitol, the Texas Capitol Visitors Center, the Texas Governor's Mansion, and the Texas State Cemetery. The Bullock Texas State History Museum is named after the 38th Lieutenant Governor of Texas Bob Bullock, who championed the preservation and exhibition of Texas history and worked to establish its creation. Bullock was the guest of honor at the groundbreaking ceremony for the museum in April 1999 and died the following June before the museum was completed.

3. Zilker Botanical Garden

Zilker Botanical Garden is nestled within Zilker Metropolitan Park in the heart of downtown Austin. their themed gardens including the Taniguchi Japanese Garden, Hartman Prehistoric Garden, and Rose Garden, are all interconnected with pathways for all ages and abilities.  With heritage live oaks, streams, and Koi-filled ponds, the Garden offers a peaceful respite in the middle of our busy city. 2. Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest Municipal Pool

This outdoor pool has two pools: one is an Olympic-sized pool that can be used for lap swimming, while the other is a leisure pool with water slides. There's also a splash pad for younger kids and plenty of places to sit and relax. There are locker rooms with showers, as well as bathroom facilities on site (although there are no concessions). The park itself has picnic areas, playgrounds, and open fields where you can play sports or just enjoy the sunshine. 

3. Barton Springs Municipal Pool

Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited, topless sunbathers who turned heads in the 1970s. Robert Redford learned to swim at the pool when he was five years old while visiting family in Austin. Today, Barton Springs still attracts a diverse crowd of people and has seen record-setting numbers of visitors nearing 800,000 in recent years. The Springs serve as home to the endangered Barton Springs Salamander and are listed as a federally protected habitat.  Depths of the pool range from 0’ to 18' with surrounding grassy areas for patrons to lounge upon. Adjacent to the pool bathhouse is Splash!, an educational exhibit where patrons can learn about the history and biology of Barton Springs and the Edwards Aquifer which feeds it.
